Chua didn't disclose Carter's past hospitalization or the many prescriptions written to Carter when a coroner arrived the day of the overdose death.
Kelley also accused Chua of fabricating medical records to protect himself after Carter's death.
"All good plans sometimes don't work out,' he said. "He didn't chart all the drugs. Even smart people can't remember this much when it's not documented."
He urged jurors to look at the records, photographs and phone records admitted as evidence.
"There are so many unanswered questions in this case," he said. "It's part of the totality in these circumstances. You decide what that means."
He questioned why Chua never called Carter's family after his death.
"Why not cry with them and say, 'I'm so sorry,'" he said. 'Why not a card? Why not attend the funeral?"
The facts in the case "came back to haunt him," Kelley said of Chua.
"He's guilty of felony murder for prescribing methadone," he said. "Every one of you knows what to do."
Jurors are scheduled to receive their final instructions from Judge Amanda Williams when the trial resumes at 9 a.m. Saturday. Read Saturday's Times-Union for a full account of Friday's proceedings.

1. Because there are so many unanswered questions, you cannot say guilty then. People need the answers to base their verdict on.
2. "You decide what that means" - WHAT??? Your job as a juror isn't to guess, it's to make a judgement based on facts and facts alone.
Most people will have had heard this but that is bad for a DA to say.
Seems like both sides have left alot unanswered. It is very sad two lifes have been lost here. Dr. Chua definitly made some very bad choices as well as the family in not steping in sooner. This does not excuse what he did either. And as for Jamie I did not know him, but it seems he was where he wanted to be doing what he wanted and not getting help. It seems they used each other.I think there is doubt here. Two years and this is all they showed
Poor Jamie? Come on get your head out of the sand. This doctor was taking advantage of a weakness and adiction to further his desires with young boys. That is lower than the bellie of any snake. He had the ability to deal with the problem and he became the problem. Unfortunatley this society is moraly bankrupt. This is the MTV generation where deviate behavior is the norm. Our heros are a bunch of liberal, light in the loafer movie stars and misguided entertainers.
This newspaper and reporter have been completely one sided. Don Samuel has made Steve Kelly and Jackie Johnson look like idiots. They were so out lawyer ed it wasn't even funny(actually it was)We nick named them Yogie and Boo Boo... Dr.Chua will be found not guilty..The DA proved nothing except how ill prepared they were.

I disagree with the post above. Dr. Chua got a fair trial, and the prosecution did a good job. The defense also did a good job, considering what they had to work with. As far as the prosecution being "out lawyered," I was there and did not see that at all. On the contrary. There were times when I felt very embarrased for Dr. Chua, his family, his legal team and his supporters, because the evidence was so damning. At any rate, the jury has it now. Both supporters and opponents of Dr. Chua should be bracing for either a stiff prison sentence, or acquittal. In either case, I think the trial was fair.

I cannot say if anyone did any out-lawyering of the other. I wasn't there and only have the paper articles. If they are correct, they both came unprepared. As for the molestation deal, really, let it go. The trial had nothing to do with that and there is no evidence of age of the folks. I just wish the testimony had more law biding facts than opinions as to what each of the doctors, college professors and pharmacists would have done if it was them. I thought the DEA may have had something better as well as the GBI. With so many questions, I could actually see the possibility of a mistrial. Lastly, two lives have been lost here. What is truly sad is we didn't get to here from either of them.

Scary thought if you had a family member under his care. Sounds like the making for another trial. Statements alledging "possible" child molestation, another trial. Doctors are put in a higher regard, we trust them, we trust them with our love ones care. Sloppy records and then someone dies....it could of been anyone. Glad it is not me having to decide on the outcome. Regardless if he is found innocent, he should never be allowed to practise medicine again, that is one thing this case has proven. All the other things that are now documented with this trial, should be throughly investigated. But that's my opinion.

According to one of the witness', that I personally know, they state that this blog does not report all of the testimony accurately. It seems to be biased against the doctor. I hope we are getting the facts before we rush to judgement and the truth is what the jury finds. Reguardless.
It's true that he is not on trial for having sex with "little boys". However that part of his behavior factors in with his motivation with Jamie. I hope that he enjoyed himself while he could because if and when he serves time he will face a living hell. Prisoners have a moral standard against child molestors, they are the lowest notch on the totem pole.
Jamie would still be alive had Dr. Chua not focused on him for his next conquest. If he should be found "not guilty", he will still pay for his actions in society. I hope that he is never allowed to practice medicine again but should he have his license back, he would most likely have very few if any patients. His funds have been practically exhausted so he won't be living the "high life". That should make it more difficult to find romance because he will have no enticement. Also, he has ruined his dignity and is most likely the laughing stock of the Fillipino community.
And all of these things are a SMALL price to pay for the life of Jamie Carter.

The State of Georgia had the duty and obligation to try Chua. The State was presented with evidence, a grand jury indicted Chua and that is the system. Just because he showed compassion to some patients did not give him the right to abuse his position as a doctor. In a shameful commentary and it is a crime. Hitler proabably was good on a few occassions and evil on others. Dr. Chua exhibits the same patten. He is a psychopath who refused to live by the normal rules of society. He is a criminal and deserved to be tried as such. CHUA WAS NOT DOING A GOOD DEED WITH JAMIE. HE WAS SATISFYING AN ADDICTION WITH AN ADDICTION, JUST AS THE D.A. SAID. HE JUSTIFIBLY EARNED A SET OF PRISION STRIPES. Hopefully the jury will reach the same conclusion. I for one sure don't want him free in our society.
